OTHER COUNTRIES ART SHOW

Opens May 1 at the Mahler Gallery  Raleigh, NC–

Tift will debut photographs she took abroad while writing Another Country, which she wrote primarily in Paris. 
The photography show, Other Countries, will feature images that Tift calls the “visual component of the record
I wrote that summer.”  Other Countries opens at the Mahler Gallery, May 1 2009 in downtown Raleigh.

In conjunction with the show, Tift will perform a solo concert at the Fletcher Opera Theater,
Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts after the opening of Other Countries.

KBCO STUDIO C BROADCAST

KBCO plans to broadcast Tift’s in-studio performance Sunday, Dec. 21, at around 4:30 p.m. MST.  Check their site here–Studio C has its own HD Radio channel you can access from the site.

KGSR 18TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT

Tift will join The Bodeans, Alejandro Escovedo, and a very special guest for KGSR Austin’s 18th Anniversary celebration at the Texas Union Ballroom on Saturday, December 13.  You can’t buy tickets–you can only win them from the station–but they will be broadcasting the show live.

TIFT RETURNS TO MERLEFEST FOR 2009

Tift will make three appearances at the 2009 NC festival–on Thursday, April 23; Friday, April 24; and Saturday, April 25.  Saturday’s performance will be on the main stage and the bill will be headlined by Tift’s hero Emmylou Harris.  More info at the Merlefest website.

TIFT TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM AT OBAMA RALLY

Barack Obama will make his final NC campaign appearance this afternoon at UNC-Charlotte, and Tift will sing the national anthem.  The performance will be streamed live on the official campaign website beginning at 5:25 p.m. EST according to the latest info on the site.  We will update this post with the latest information we have until actual broadcast time. 

TIFT TO PLAY KBCO HOLIDAY CONCERT SERIES

Tift will join Martin Sexton and Brett Dennen for KBCO’s annual Holiday Concert Series at the Fox Theatre December 17th.  The show is a special benefit for the Emergency Family Assistance Association of Boulder County and the Conscience Alliance.  Tickets go on sale Friday, November 7th.  More info here

Emmylou shows cancelled

This weekend’s concerts with Emmylou Harris are unfortunately cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.  Emmylou is planning to reschedule them at a later date. Tift certainly hopes to join her.   

SIMONE DINNERSTEIN ON THE SPARK

This month’s episode of The Spark is the amazing, incredible story of the amazing incredible Simone Dinnerstein.

TIFT AT GRAND OLE OPRY

Tift will be live on WSM 650 AM in Nashville at 9am Friday morning, then playing a free concert on Saturday at 8:15pm at the Opry Plaza with her band. She’ll also be performing that night at the Grand Ole Opry, the 7pm show will be broadcast live on GAC TV, the 10:30pm Opry show will include a Tift duet with Charlie Louvin. Sunday, Tift will be performing at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville, broadcast live on WRLT, Lightning 100 fm at 9pm.

Tift at Glastonbury

Tift and her band head off on another UK tour this Sunday and start everything off at the Glastonbury Festival . The London show is sold out, but tickets are still available for other shows.

Tift and her band will be performing on The Late Show with David Letterman next Wednesday, June 25 on CBS TV. Tift will be singing “Morning Is My Destination” with her band.

Tift will be appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday February 25, the night before Another Country hits record store shelves everywhere in North America February 26.

THE SPARK ON MARFA PUBLIC RADIO

THE SPARK is a monthly interview program, hosted by Tift, which will debut online and air on KRTS 93.5fm in Marfa, Texas, Sunday Jan. 27, 3pm (Central time). The Spark’s first four episodes will feature author Nick Hornby (January 27), poet C.K. Williams (February 24), Nickel Creek (March 30) and painter Wolf Kahn (April 27).

LIVE ON AUSTIN CITY LIMITS DVD

A DVD of Tift’s performance on the television show Austin City Limits just came out on October 30th. The performance features songs from her Grammy nominated album, Tambourine. This appearance taped for television at the end of the Tambourine World Tour, which covered over 40,000 miles and eleven countries.
